William A. Valentino, age 97, passed away on Friday April 24th, 2020.


The son of Fortinato Valentino and Amelia Javinelli, William was born in 1923 in Gibbstown, NJ. William lived a long and adventurous life. A graduate of Paulsboro High School (1940), William went to work for the Catalytic Construction Company, which would later become Houdry Process Company and eventually Air Products & Chemicals Inc. In 1943, during WWII, he entered the US Army. Williams service took him to New Orleans, Camp Ellis, New York, and Fort Dix. In 1946 he was honorably discharged and entered back into civilian life. William went back to work and attended night schooling at Wharton Business School. He held various jobs over the years. Working as office manager at the farmers feed mill in Mullica Hill, a clerk at the DuPont Repauno Plant, and industrial salesman at Standard Pipe & Supply.

William was very active in his community. Serving on the Gibbstown Recreation Committee, former member of the St. Michael's Mutual Club, former member of the Knight of Columbus Queen of Heaven, Gibbstown Heart Fund, and charitable work for the Gibbstown Lions Club.

In 1947 he married his loving wife Jennie M. (Panaro) Valentino who would pass away in 1985. They raised 3 wonderful children. Son William E Valentino, daughter Jane Kahlcke, and daughter Susan Gould who unfortunately passed in 2016. William was 1 of 5 children. He joins his oldest brother Carl Valentino and leaves behind 3 siblings. Sister Irene Arena, sister Rita Cox, and brother Fortunata Valentino. He welcomed into his family and leaves behind his son-in-law Martin Gould and Robert Kahlcke and daughter-and-law Jonnie Valentino. William took great pride in watching and to help raise his 3 grandchildren. He joins his oldest grandchild William E. Valentino JR and leaves behind Melissa vanOyen and Jason Gould. He leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren Vincent Tate, Dominic Tate, and Amanda Valentino.

William spent the twilight years of his life surrounded by his loving family. William was an inspiration to those that knew him. A hard worker with a massive heart. Never a man to complain. Always looking for the joy in life and bringing happiness to others.
