Dr. Vincent Leo Gattuso ("Vince"), age 74, of West Deptford NJ, passed away June 24, 2021, peacefully in his home. Dr. Gattuso was born in West Jersey Hospital Camden, NJ and raised in Paulsboro NJ.

Dr. Gattuso attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Paulsboro High School class of 1964. During his high school years he was part of a teen band group and played the accordion at local events. He attended Union College in Barbourville, KY and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN 1972.

He served in the US Air Force at the Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire as an Optometrist for 2 years. After the service, in 1976, he opened his practice in Gibbstown and in 2001 he joined the practice of Drs. Stein and Goldschneider Optometrists in Deptford and Voorhees until his retirement in 2018.

Dr. Gattuso was a member of the Gibbstown Lions Club and the Camden Eye Center. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed golfing and followed his colleague Dr. Gil Morgan, a professional golfer. He and Dr. Gil were classmates at Southern College of Optometry. He enjoyed baseball and football. He could hold a conversation just talking about sports. He enjoyed eating out and would recommend a restaurant that he liked. He also enjoyed going to Florida during the winter months and visiting New Hampshire in the fall.

Dr. Gattuso is survived by his loving wife Lillian of 41 years; beloved brother of Anna G. Pansera, Frances R. Gattuso, his nephew Dr. Domenico (Caterina) Pansera and great-nephews Giovanni & Francesco of Padua Italy, Leo Pansera, Pietro (Kristen) Pansera, Giovanni (Godson) and great-niece Isabella from Lewisville, TX. Also survived by his sister-in-law Cheryl (Bill) Armstrong, brother-in-law Joseph C. Pelly III, and great-niece Anastasia Tedeschi. He was predeceased by his parents Leandro and Domenica Gattuso, his twin sister Tina A. Gattuso and brother-in-law Dr. Giovanni Pansera.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the St. Clare of Assisi Parish (St. Michael's Church), Memorial Ave., Gibbstown NJ, 10-11AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11AM. Entombment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro NJ.
