Stephen R. Salvatore, 79, long time resident of Gloucester County, passed away January 18, 2015, at home, with his family by his side. He is the beloved husband of Faye (nee Weisser), devoted father of Rob Sr. (Patricia), Stephanie, Ricky (deceased), loving grandfather of Rob Jr., Joy, Jody, Alex, great grandfather of Alicia, David Jr., predeceased by brother Clem Salvatore. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Steve was a 1954 graduate of PHS, worked for United Airlines 38 years and was the President of the International Association of Machinists Union. He spent 30 years in elected office, was the Mayor and Committeeman of Greenwich Twp, Gloucester County Freeholder for 15 years and Surrogate for 10 years. He was instrumental in establishing Central Communications in Gloucester County. He coached many sports, Gibbstown Midget Football, Gibbstown Little League, was a member of St. Michael's Club, long time member of the Deptford Elks and American Legion.

A viewing will be on Thursday 6-8pm and Friday 9-9:45am at the St. Clare of Assisi Parish (St. Michael's Church) 313 Memorial Ave., Gibbstown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am. Interment Eglington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be sent to the PHS Athletic Deptartment, 670 N. Delaware St., Paulsboro NJ 08066.
