Of West Deptford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 19, 2018, age 91. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Brown and the late Walter Walk. Devoted mother of Thomas Brown (Terry) and Harry Park. Loving grandmother of Amanda (Ed), Katie, Kelly, Matilda, Shirley, Harry, and James. Ruth also leaves behind her 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as her adopted granddaughters, whom she loved as her own. Ruth was affectionately known as "Goofy Ruthie." She was raised in Mantua and was a long-time resident of West Deptford. Along with her late husband Thomas Brown, Ruth was among the first to organize the West Deptford Little League. Tom was one of the first coaches and Ruth ran the concession stand. Ruth was a hard worker and would give anyone the shirt off her back. She owned and operated Ruth's Diner in Collingswood for many years. Ruth later retired from the NJ Department of Transportation at which point she went to work as a greeter for the Deptford Walmart, retiring in 2016. Ruth was a jack of all trades and an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching Sunday Night Football with her son Tom and joyfully celebrated the Eagles winning the Super Bowl. In her leisure time, Ruth enjoyed trips to the casinos, bingo, the beach, Saturday Poker Nights and camping at Pine Haven with her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday from 6 to 7PM at Calvary Chapel of South Jersey, 1210 Hessian Avenue, West Deptford, NJ, where a Memorial Service will follow at 7PM.
