Rosalie Ann Paul (nee Weatherby), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home on August 26, 2025, at the age of 83. She had her familiar spark right up to the end and would sing and clap along to favorite songs with her daughter Sharon and son Adam.
Born on May 30, 1942, in North Wildwood, NJ, to William and Wanda (Herfert) Weatherby, Rosalie was one of eight children. She grew up on Otten's Harbor in Wildwood and was a member of the first class to graduate from Lower Cape May Regional High School in 1961.
In 1963, Rosalie married her high school sweetheart, William Paul, of Cape May. They met at a local dance at the Tom Cat in Wildwood and had a storybook romance with Willie playing on the football team and Rosalie on the cheerleading squad. A daughter, Sharon and son, Adam completed their family, and they settled in West Deptford, NJ. While raising their children, they took annual summer vacations to both Wildwood and Cape May.
Rosalie was an avid swimmer for more than 40 years and logged over 1000 miles in the YMCA and Riverwinds pools. Her gardening hobby filled her yard with pots of heuchera, sedum, Hosta, oxalis, and much more. She also had an interest in folk art painting and worked on many projects with Willie, who would design, cut, and sand the pieces she painted. It was quite a sideline for a time. These pursuits, however, did not interfere with her great love of baking. The whole extended family remembers her trailside treats, buckeye balls, biscotti, and fudge.
After the children flew the nest, Rosalie and Willie enjoyed traveling up and down the East Coast and had many wonderful trips to Florida to see her sister, Vicki and brother-in-law, George. She missed Willie greatly after his death in 2011. They were married for 48 years.
In her later years, Rosalie was a daily visitor to the Riverwinds gym and community center, where she made a regular circuit through the building greeting friends and strangers alike with songs, dances, treats, and hugs. The Riverwinds staff and regulars will remember "Barbara Ann" and "boop boop be doop"!
Rosalie is survived by her daughter Sharon, son Adam (Becky), grandchildren Henry (Anna), Sam (Tiffany), Taylor (Ryan), Connor, and great-granddaughter, Sofia. She was a loving sister to Ada Elliot (David), and Vicki Bundschu (George) and was dearly loved by three generations of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by in-laws Peter Paul (Linda), Evelyn Smith, and Patty Paul.
In addition to her parents, Rosalie is predeceased by her husband William Paul, brothers William Weatherby, Paul Weatherby and George Weatherby, sisters Dorothy Weatherby and Wanda McIntyre, and brothers-in-law George Paul and Anthony (Bud) Smith.
Rosalie's funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 N. Monroe Avenue, Wenonah, NJ, where friends will be received by the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private and at a later date.
