Obituary

Robert "Rufus" Coles 57 of Clayton passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021 at Manor Care Nursing Facility in West Deptford with his Sister Annette Denby, Niece Morgan Denby and our Lord and Savior by his side.


Born in Elmer to the late Robert Coles and Annette(Gates) Coles-Brady. Rufus never married or had children.
He was a dedicated employee.  Employed by Texaco in Turnersville for over ten years and recently retired.
Rufus loved music and spent much time playing guitar in his Uncles band. Jay Gates and the Inventors.  He loved his 1968 red Ford Mustang and most recently his Cadillac.  He was an Elvis fan.  He was a very simple man who spent his life making people laugh with his great sense of humor.  Loved watching the "Three Stooges" his laughter was contagious.  He was a kind, caring soul with a heart of gold.
He is survived by his mother Annette (Gates) Brady, his sister Annette (Brady) Denby, his brother Bruce Brady, Nieces Chelsea and Morgan Denby, Nephews Garrett and Dustin Denby, and great Nephew Bradyn. His Uncle Rich (Patricia) Gates his Aunt Linda Gates and many cousins/their spouses, and their children , many great friends/neighbors. Especially Peter, his wife Theresa and their little dog, Shadow.
Rufus was predeceased by his father Robert Coles, grandparents Edna and Robert Coles, grandparents Charles & Ottie Gates; Uncle James & Aunt Diane Gates, Uncle Abe & Aunt Mary(Gates) Wheeler, Aunt Rhoda(Gates) & James Burgess, Aunt Cory (Hazel (Gates) and Richard Gillespie; Aunt Pamela Gates; Aunts Odette, Billy Jean, Geneva and Lavina Gates, Great Aunt Eslee (Lear Wolfer and several cousins, All who have welcomed him through the gates of Heaven!
Rufus did not want a funeral instead he requested a memorial service to celebrate his life. The family has planned a celebration memorial luncheon.  All are welcome on Friday July 30th from 1:30 to 4:30 pm at the Monarch Diner and Restaurant located at 500 Delsea Drive in Glassboro, New Jersey.
