Obituary

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Richard Joseph McLeer, loving husband, father of three children and proud Poppy to three grandchildren, passed away suddenly at the age of 74.

Richard was preceded in death by his father William Francis, mother Ida Marie, stepmother Carrie Mildred, and son Richard William. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his daughter Linda McLeer Convery and son-in-law Sean Convery and their children Julia Grace, Matthew Sean, and Catherine Elena; his son Richard Joseph, Jr.; his brother William Richard and wife Judith; his brother-in-law Walter Rosewitski and wife Peggy; many nieces and nephews; and his favorite pal, Trooper.

Richard was born on January 10, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, to William Francis and Ida (Moran) McLeer. He grew up in West Deptford, NJ, and graduated from West Deptford High School, Class of 1967. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for four years before his honorable discharge. On April 24, 1971, he married his "beautiful bride" and love of his life, Carolyn Marie Still. Together, they raised their children Linda Rene' and Richard Joseph.

Richard enjoyed his recent years frequenting his hometown diners with Carolyn, wearing his customary attire of a Navy cap, Navy dog tags and Navy shirt. He adored his grandchildren Julia, Matthew, and Cate, and beamed with pride spending time with them or talking about them. He loved his family infinitely and would do anything within his means to help them, assisting before ever being asked. In his earlier years, he enjoyed family vacations down the shore and to Florida and Bermuda, skiing in the Poconos, attending Phillies games, fishing, going to the casino, playing golf with his son and son-in-law, Friday night dinners in the city, and making people laugh with his jokes. He was very loved, and will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 10am-10:45am at the LANDOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Broad Street, Paulsboro NJ 08066.
