Rhoda Retkovis (nee Gandy), 92, of Gibbstown, passed away November 23, 2011, at Crozier Chester Hospital, having suffered injuries from a fall. She is the beloved mother of Mary Ann (Joseph) DeRicco, Joseph (Nora), Rita and John Retkovis, Joan Perogine, sister of Lucille Gaskill, also survived by 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Born Aug 9, 1919 to Grover and Myrtle Gandy in Deepwater NJ, was a 1936 graduate of Paulsboro High, married Brance Retkovis in 1939 and was married for 54 years, they enjoyed travelling to most of the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, a volunteer in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Salvation Army and VFW Auxiliary. One of her favorite hobbies was cultivating award winning African violets for shows.

A viewing will be on Wednesday 9-10:30am at the St. Michael's Church, St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Memorial Ave., Gibbstown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Swedesboro. In lieu of flowers donations in Rhoda's memory may be made to the Guardian Angels School, 150 S. School St., Gibbstown NJ 08027.
