Obituary

Marshall D. Crocker, age 92, of Gibbstown, passed away March 24, 2018. Marshall was a graduate of Kennedy Memorial Home, Kinston, NC. Predeceased by his loving wife Ruth (nee Serabo), his parents Johnny and Sally (nee Carter), as well as his siblings. Marshall is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Zelley, and Catherine (Ken) Atkins , his son Michael (Cheryl) Crocker. Also survived by his grandchildren. Marshall was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He was awarded the WW II Victory Medal and Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp. He graduated from the Taylor Business College in Business Administration, Spring Garden College in Mechanical Engineering and Drexel University Evening School in Manufacturing Engineering. He was employed at the Budd Company as a Manufacturing Engineer for 30 years, retiring in March,1983. After retiring, he studied music and piano. He also studied art at the Gloucester County College. Marshall and his wife loved traveling with the Happy Tours Travel Club, loved playing the piano, also loved painting landscapes, seascapes, tall ships, lighthouses as well as many historical sights. He was a member of the Gloucester County Art League and participated in many of their art shows. He was a life member and in the Honor Guard of the Gibbstown VFW Post 5579 and was a life member of the Gloucester County Chapter No. 16 Disabled American Veterans. He was past member of the Greenwich Twp Cultural and Heritage Committee, Gibbstown Lions Club, UAW Retirees Union Local 757, Greenwich Twp Senior Citizens Association, Greenwich Twp Democrat Club, Democrat National Committee, and a Charter Member of the National WWII Museum. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday morning from 10am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael's Church, 313 Memorial Ave, Gibbstown, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gibbstown VFW Post 5579, 743 W. Broad St., Gibbstown, NJ 08027.
