Heaven gained an angel when Linda Giorgianni-Apetz, 68, of Glassboro, New Jersey, peacefully returned home to be with her Heavenly Father. Here on earth, Linda was known as an angel to so many, living with a gentle spirit, a selfless heart, and a deep faith that guided every season of her life.
Linda was the cherished daughter of Martha and the late Tony Giorgianni. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Edward Apetz and a loving mother to Nicole Morina, Melissa "Mia" Jordan (Mike), Carmel "CJ" Morina, Jr. (Wendi), Christan Apetz (Ashley), and Patrick Apetz (Becca). She was a dear sister to Sandi Gray (Bob), Joanne Salvatore (Joe), Lisa Cornell (Todd), and the late Toni Gray (Richard). Nothing brought Linda more joy than being "Nonna" to Luciana, Sophia, Katie, Jack, Aurora, Isabella, Claire, Anja, Sadie, Madison, Axel, Joe Joe, Morgan, and Matteo. She is also lovingly remembered by her many adoring nieces and nephews.
Linda grew up in Gibbstown, New Jersey, as the oldest of five girls, in a close-knit neighborhood where family lived just steps away and cousins filled the street. Even then, she carried herself with a natural sense of style and confidence that stayed with her throughout her life. She graduated from Paulsboro High School in 1975 and went on to earn her Registered Nursing certificate from Cooper Nursing School in 1977. Growing up surrounded by family shaped Linda's deep commitment to caring for others, qualities that stayed with her throughout her life.
Linda chose nursing as a way to do what came naturally to her: caring for people when it mattered most. As a labor and delivery nurse, she combined exceptional clinical skill with deep empathy, guiding families through childbirth with calm reassurance and compassion. Over the course of her career, Linda helped welcome thousands of babies into the world, bringing love, kindness, and calm to each birth.
Linda lived her faith through service, giving her time and heart to others in countless ways across the communities she called home. For many years, she served as a Divert Counselor in Gloucester County, where she worked quietly and tirelessly to support individuals escaping domestic violence, offering hope during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Her work was rooted in compassion and an unwavering belief in the dignity and worth of every person.
It was through her work in healthcare that Linda met the love of her life, Edward, a physician who practiced obstetrics and gynecology, a calling that brought them together. Their commitment to welcoming new life formed the foundation of a partnership defined by mutual respect and enduring love. For over three decades, they shared a love marked by deep happiness, partnership, and unwavering support for their growing family.
Their journey together took them across the country, with chapters in Hawaii, North Carolina, and Florida. In every community they called home, Linda formed lasting friendships and meaningful connections. Those who shared time with her remember her compassion, her kindness, and the way she made people feel truly seen and cared for.
Above all else, Linda was a deeply devoted mother, offering her children unwavering love and support through every stage of life. Motherhood was the lens through which Linda built her life. That devotion only deepened when she became a Nonna. Linda shared a deep bond with each of her "cherubs," celebrating their individuality and being present in countless ways, from making the drives and preparing favorite meals to baking treats, tending her garden, and lovingly caring for the chickens she raised. She built meaningful traditions and simple routines that became cherished parts of their lives. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she poured herself into their lives with pride and endless affection.
Linda had a rare gift for making everyone feel deeply loved and uniquely important, whether they knew her for a lifetime or only a moment. Her life was a reflection of her faith, which guided her actions, strengthened her relationships, and sustained her soul through every season. She leaves behind a legacy written in faith, kindness, and a love that will echo through generations.
At the request of the family, interment will be private. A Celebration of Life honoring Linda's legacy will be held at a later date.
