Joseph Moffa celebrated his 100 th birthday on June 18, 2020 and passed peacefully on June 28, 2020. His 100 th birthday celebration included cakes, balloons and most importantly well wishes from so many of his family and friends and topped off with an interview with 6ABC.
Joseph was born in Paulsboro NJ on June 18, 1920 to Joseph and Anna Moffa. Joseph met and married the love of his life Millie (nee Cameli) they lived and raised their family in Gibbstown, NJ.
Joseph and his brother Albert owned and operated Moffa's Hardware in Gibbstown for over 50 years.
Joseph was a man of many talents from woodworking, auto re-builds and then ultimately learning and mastering oil painting. He also enjoyed playing pool, shooting darts and a good hand of cards.
Joseph served proudly in World War II. He was a founding member of the Paulsboro VFW and a life member of the Gibbstown VFW. He was also a past member of the Sons of Italy in Paulsboro and a very proud member of St. Michael's Mutual Club where he spent many hours playing cards with his dear friends.
Joseph was a wonderful dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son Richard and his wife Donna of Peoria, Arizona. His daughter Annette and her husband Don Ogle of Mullica Hill, NJ. His grandchildren Audrey and her husband Josh Henderson, Sarah Moffa, Alexandra and her husband Joseph Ottinger, John Ogle and Zachary Ogle. And the twinkle in eyes his great-grandchildren Sophie and Noah Henderson.
At the time of his passing; Joseph was a resident of United Methodist/Pitman Manor where he was a well-loved and active member of their residential community. Thank you to their staff for all their care and support and above all their friendship with Joe!
A private gathering will be held for the immediate family. A celebration of life will be held with friends and family at a future date.
