Of Gibbstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, age 85 yrs. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Rebyak). Devoted father of Joseph M. Giordano, Jr. (Denise), Kathleen M. Dick (late Craig), Anthony L. Giordano (Diane), Michelle L. Yurchak (Stephan), Evelyn M. Smith (Michael), and Raymond D. Giordano (Tracey). Dear brother of Anita Lombardo (late Harry, Sr.), and Anthony Giordano (late Jane). Loving Pop Pop of Melissa, Stephan, Lisa, Christopher, Phillip, Jason, Leslie, Talia, Craig, Elyse, Danielle, Jessica, Paul, Kelly, Sammy, and Anthony. Great-grandfather of 15. Also survived by his canine companion Louie. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Evelyn, as well as his son-in-law Craig. Mr. Giordano was born in Paulsboro, NJ and was a long-time resident of Gibbstown. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed a long career with the Greenwhich Township Police Department where he retired as Chief. Joseph was a member of the American Legion, Sons of Italy, International Chiefs of Police Association, NJ State Police Chief's Association, and Past President of the Gloucester County Police Chief's Association. Mr. Giordano enjoyed family trips to Stone Harbor, golfing in Copper Open in Myrtle Beach, fishing, and above all he loved being a Pop Pop to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday evening from 6PM to 8PM and again on Friday morning from 9am to 10am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael's Church, Memorial Ave, Gibbstown, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am. LIVE STREAMING WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF THE MASS AT 10AM Stclarenj.org. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
