Passed away peacefully on September 4, 2019 of Gibbstown, NJ, age 81 yrs. Beloved husband of Nicolina "Nickie" (nee Pino), son of the late Louis and Carmella Ficara.  Devoted father of Karen DeRoche (Kevin), Joseph Ficara and the late Loraine Davis. Dear brother of Domenick Ficara and Bridget Weiss. Loving grandfather of Sandi (Bryan) Nastase, Sommer (Brian) Jamison, Michael Ficara, and Nicolette (Steve) Weindel. Great-grandfather of Shelby, Alexis, Andrew, Alec and Santino Nastase and Jaycie and Jayda Jamison. Predeceased by his siblings Congett Ficara and Maryann Greene. Joe was a 1956 graduate of Paulsboro HS where he competed on the wrestling team. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves and enjoyed a long career with Monsanto Chemical Co. Joe was an active member of the Son's of Italy and enjoyed reading, golfing, dancing, keeping up with PHS sports, caring for his pool and above all spending time with his family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday morning from 10am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael's Church, Memorial Ave, Gibbstown, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am.
