Obituary

Passed away on February 11, 2018 age 90 years. Beloved husband of Theresa (nee Long). Devoted father of Maureen (Philip Snyder). Dear brother of Ruth Burke and Donald Burke (Catherine). Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Frances Burke, as well as his siblings: Marie McNeilly, Edward Burke, Jr., Richard Burke, Alice Nolte, and Francis Burke. Mr. Burke was a lifelong resident of Paulsboro and attended Paulsboro High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Joe retired from Mobil Refinery with over 35 yrs of service. He was a member of the Paulsboro Sportsmen's Association since 1952 and served as president. Joe also was a faithful parishioner of St. Clare of Assisi Parish. Joe spent many summers at the Jersey Shore, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and entertaining family and friends. After retirement, Joe and Theresa enjoyed spending winters in Naples, Fl. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for Paulsboro HS football, the Eagles, and the Phillies. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday morning from 9am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. John's Church, 647 Beacon Ave, Paulsboro, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am.
