John J. Rizzo III, 76, of Gibbstown, passed away peacefully, April 11, 2013. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jackie (nee Clift), of 51 years of marriage, devoted father of John, wife Lisa, grandson Joey, son Paul, wife Mary Ellen, grandchildren Anthony, Elizabeth, Nicholas, son Mark, wife Joanne, grandson Giavanni, daughter Pam Grossman, husband Lou and grandaughter Jacquelyn.
Born and raised in Glassboro, he was the only child of John and Carmella "Millie" (Calio) Rizzo.John initially worked for the family cement business, was a US Army Veteran, where he spent three years in the US and Italy, worked at DuPont's in Deepwater, retiring in 1992. He was dedicated to his family and was there for the events of his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy was watching sports, on TV and in person. Mostly enjoyed his kids and grandkids as they competed, always cheering them on, as a coach or simply a fan. For over 24 years he was a volunteer with the St. James Father's Club, an organization he supported and ran, whether it was working bingo or Saturday Football games. A viewing will be on Monday 7-9pm and Tuesday 9-9:45am, at the St. Clare of Assisi Parish (St. Michael's Church), Memorial Ave., Gibbstown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, Tuesday. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
