John J. Leonardo, 79, was raised in Paulsboro, resided for 51 years in Gibbstown, and most recently lived in West Deptford. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on February 13th 2025. He is the beloved husband of Mary E. Leonardo, loving father of Kristina Love (Scott), Angela Alessi (Matt), and devoted grandfather of Matthew, Spencer, Georgia Peach, and Carlo. Predeceased by his parents Rose Leonardo Malinoski and John R. Leonardo.

John is a veteran of the National Guard and worked for Mobil/Valero for close to 30 years from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Eagle Point Gun Club. John loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and going on his boat. In his free time at home, he loved sitting out by his pond that he took such great care of and enjoying his chimenea in the early mornings. He loved planting and tending to his garden every summer as well as taking pride in his landscaping and fig trees. John could always be found in the kitchen, always eager to teach his grandchildren. As soon as warm weather would hit, John and Mary would make their way down to Ocean City, NJ to enjoy their home there together. He loved sitting on the porch counting passing cars. John was very outgoing and would talk to anybody who would listen to him.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Celebration of His Life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at LANDOLFI FUNERAL HOME of Paulsboro, 300 W. Broad Street. Visitation with the family from 9:30-11am with a service immediately following. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
