Giovanina ("Joanne") Battaglia, 84, of Clarksboro, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, June 2nd at Salem Medical Center in Salem County, New Jersey. Born on May 21st, 1936 to Giovanni and Gracia Musumeci in Mickleton, New Jersey. Joanne was a strong and caring Italian woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Joanne attended East Greenwich Elementary, and Swedesboro High School. At the age of 22, she married the love of her life, Vincenzo. Joanne worked at "Teledyne Wirz & Packaging Industries Inc." in Swedesboro, New Jersey for 40 years, where she founded lifelong friendships. She then spent several years at the "Margaret C Clifford School" in Swedesboro, New Jersey where she worked as a cafeteria worker before retiring.
Joanne had a personality that would light up a room, and a contagious smile. She demonstrated kindness, humility, elegance, and warmth to anyone lucky enough to have met her. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners, where stories, memories and meals were shared. In the summer time she could be found in Ocean City, New Jersey with her family, sitting by the pool, or selling New Jersey tomatoes at her produce stand. She was a proud member of the Church of the Incarnation in Mantua, New Jersey. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Joanne is survived by her sons, Anthony and Vincent (Dawn) Battaglia; daughter, Christina Maccarone; her grandsons, Anthony, Andre, Dante, Vinnie, and Torre; her sister, Josephine (Victor) Lombardi; and her brother-in-law Piedro (Lena) Battaglia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years, Vincenzo Battaglia; her late sister Rose (Anthony) Gattuso; her late brother-in-law Francesco Battaglia; her late sister-in-law Concetta Battaglia; and her late mother-in-law Christina Battaglia.
