Edward J. Dobzanski, Sr., 90, life long resident of Gibbstown, passed away peacefully January 15, 2023. He is the beloved husband of the late Dorothy T. Dobzanski, loving father of Marie (Tom) Paulsen, Eddie (Monica) Dobzanski and devoted grandfather of Alexis Munyan, Lily and Tom Paulsen Jr. Predeceased by his daughter Susan L. Dobzanski and brother Robert Dobzanski.
Quiet, humble, hardworking, caring, giving, loving. He was a young boy during the Great Depression so he learned about sacrifice and hard times early. We discovered as a young children, when he'd take us places like ballgames, he was very well liked. "Sonny" they called him. He was a proud 1951 graduate of Paulsboro High School and a strong supporter of the Football and Wrestling programs, attending games and matches well into his 80's. He loved sports but baseball was always #1. He'd proudly tell us stories of playing 2nd Base on area All-Star teams with his brother Bob and cousin Alex...who both played professionally. After HS he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. After basic he volunteered for the 82nd Airborne...becoming a Paratrooper. His Unit had orders for Korea but the War ended 5 weeks before they were to deploy. Ed retired from Mobil Research in 1995 as a Lab Tech. He raised a family and, along with our mother, taught us right from wrong and values. He never made "big money" yet my sisters and I never needed anything...we had everything we could ever want. He was the most decent and loving man we have ever known. Always there for us....like a rock. He adored spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was and always will be our Hero.....Rest in Peace Pop and say hello to everyone in Heaven for us. We hope to see you again!
Family and friends are invited to his interment on Friday, January 20th, at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro NJ, at 12 Noon. The US Army will perform Military Honors with a service following.
