Dorothy Elizabeth DiLuigi (nee Nesayt) of Gibbstown, died peacefully at her home on September 18, 2009 in the company of family members. She was 85 years of age.
Dot was a wonderful woman, always expressing her spirit of "LOVE" to family, friends and everyone whom she felt fortunate to meet. She cared for many of us, both the sick and well, giving comfort to those who were ill and encouragement to those finding their way in this life. The many cards and letters she sent helped to keep the US Postal Service in operation. Her prayers offered on behalf of others were so often answered that those who knew her were certain that she was special.
Dorothy was born on April 26, 1924 in Philadelphia, the only child of Anthony and Regina Nesayt. She was preceded in death by her husband, a WWII veteran and hero, James Joseph DiLuigi, whom she married at the age of 18, immediately prior to his deployment to Europe and Africa.
She is survived by her younger son Joseph, with whom she lived for the past 13 years, as they cared for and supported one another, her older son James and his wife Ana Maria, grandchildren David, Mark and Lisa Marie and their spouses Regina, Katherine and Rankine Roth respectively, and great grandchildren James, Grace, Madeline and Elizabeth.
All are invited to share in commemorating Dorothy's life. A viewing will be held on Wednesday September 23rd from 7 to 9pm and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:15am at the Landolfi Funeral Home of Paulsboro, 300 W. Broad Street. On Thursday Mass will be celebrated at 10am at the St. Michael's Church, Memorial Ave, Gibbstown, followed by interment at Woodbury Memorial Park with a luncheon and storytelling immediately after.
