Obituary

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on July 9, 2024, age 91 years. Beloved husband of 68 years, Doris (nee Simmons). Proud father of Kathleen Marinelli, Thomas Marinelli (Karen) and Jacqueline Harms (Fred). Proud Pop Pop of Alexander (Amanda), Ethan (Kyle), Kathryn (Michael), Caroline, Ashley, Anthony, Erik, Christopher, and Bryan. Proud great-grandfather of Luca. Predeceased by his brothers Louis and Jerry and his sisters Erma Steffin and Mary Manni. Angelo (known fondly by many as "Junny") was born and raised in Gibbstown, NJ. He graduated from Paulsboro High School where he was known for his artistic abilities and as he told it passed many classes by submitting drawings which were hung in the school halls. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the US Army 1666 Medical Company 32nd Division Infantry Regiment during the Korean War as a medic. During his service, he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service Angelo enjoyed a long career at DuPont Repauno Works in Gibbstown, retiring as Supervisor of the Mypolex Division of Industrial Diamonds after 49 years at DuPont minus his military service. Having built his own home in 1958 Angelo enjoyed gardening in his yard, watching and identifying the birds and bunnies at his feeders in his back yard, surf fishing with his family at the Outer Banks N.C., eating a good homemade Italian meal, sitting by his fireplace with a glass of Johnny Walker Black on ice, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching his beloved Phillies and Eagles, and proudly wearing his Eagles and Phillies t-shirts and sweatshirts. He respectfully flew the U.S. flag daily over his home with either the Phillies or the Eagles flag depending on the season. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Michael's Church and proud to be one of the oldest members of St. Michael's Mutual Club. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday morning 10:00 am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Michael's Church, Memorial Ave., Gibbstown, NJ, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery Williamstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Guardian Angels Regional School, 150 S. School Street, Gibbstown, NJ 08027 https://www.gars-online.com/gars/ or Anthony T. Calista VFW Post 5579, 743 W Broad St, Gibbstown, NJ 08027.
